Apple Macintosh Services and Consultancy
Northlight Images has provided Apple Macintosh consultancy, training, and support (such as data recovery and repairs) for over fifteen years. Our Apple Mac services cover both hardware and software for a range of businesses (and private individuals) in Leicester, Leicestershire and the rest of the UK East Midlands. We only use Macs for our own business, call us today and see what we can do for you.
We don't sell Macs ... we buy all our Apple kit directly from Apple, so if you are looking for a Mac, an iPod or any Apple equipment we always suggest you visit Apple themselves
(click on the image below to take you directly to Apple wherever you are based)

We know that Macs keep going for a lot longer than your average PC, so we still support all the original Macs (see the big list of Mac models at the bottom of this page)
Our Apple Mac Services
It's what we use to run our business -- let us help you with yours. We are happy to recommend other services outside of the Leicester UK area.
Apple Macintosh data recovery
- Your Mac crashes just as you want to print out your thesis -- it has happened.
Our Apple Mac disk recovery service can often recover your hard drive data. All is not lost -- give us a call.
Mac Legacy system support
- We still keep old Macs around, they remain useful long after your PCs have gone to the tip. We can offer full support from System 6 upwards (Earlier systems are available, but our oldest working system is 6.0.8) We also offer a large collection of information on our free Apple Mac resources page.
Emergency support
- Apple Macintosh hardware, software and disaster recovery (out of hours and home visit service available in the Leicester area)
- Contract support -- have Northlight's expertise on call for your company.
Training
- All about Apple Macs -- Systems, applications and bespoke courses. We specialise in tailoring training to your individual needs. If you want a general introduction to the Mac or some one to one coaching -- give us a call.
Colour Management
- Are you getting the best results from your workflow -- advice, consultancy and configuration. We have lots of general colour management information available on this site, and regularly provide training for companies that want to learn more -- that's both Windows PC and Apple Mac!
Printer Services
- Make the most of your investment -- RIPs, specialist inksets, PC printer sharing.
- Wondering why your prints don't match your screen - read one of our free articles
Internet connectivity
- Link your systems to the net ... safely! -- configuration and management.
Internal networking (LAN)
- Get the most from your existing kit and more -- including wireless.
The Apple Mac digital plumber
Mail and Database services
- Get the best from your Mac -- e.g. share your iCal calendars on a local webDAV server.
Server configuration
- Unleash the power of OS X server
Inter-system connectivity (PCs)
- We know an awful lot about PCs too ... especially working together with Macs.
Web site design and hosting
- Simple effective designs -- we concentrate on helping clients produce sites that are clear and to the point. Is your site getting the search engine exposure you want? We offer simple inexpensive review services that can pinpoint areas to improve.
Usability and HCI (Human Computer Interaction) evaluation
- Surveys, consultancy and training (Includes PCs as well) Is your site easy to use? Does it give visitors access to what they want? Remember, there is no site so simple that an excess of Flash graphics and arcane navigation cannot make it a nightmare to use. Our review service pulls no punches. If your site is keeping visitors away we'll help you find out why. For advice and information on the subject, do have a look at our HCI/usability section.
-
- With many years experience at a major independent Human Factors Research Institute, we can back up our reviews with the latest in research findings. A usable web site does not need to be visually dull, let us help you maximise returns from your site.
Logos and corporate typefaces
- We can produce these for both Mac and PC use. An example would be the Northlight Images logo which we produced as single character Postscript and TrueType typefaces. Ideal for inclusion in documents where a consistent look is required but pre-printed materials are not warranted.
Adobe Photoshop
- We offer a range of Digital Imaging support and bespoke training.
-
We do not directly sell hardware or software and pride ourselves on giving the best independent (Mac) advice to our clients. However, when required, we can source hard to find specialist or obsolete software and hardware. For the latest Apple hardware and software, you can visit the Apple Store via the link below.
We are often asked where to get good deals on used or Refurbished Apple Macs. Since we don't sell hardware we usually suggest Second Chance PCs in Cambridge who have provided us with spares and system upgrades for several years.
Whatever the scale of your needs, we are there to help.

We have a growing collection of Apple Macintosh related information and links. They cover sources of software and detailed support issues. We are always updating the collection so do check regularly.
